Some preachers claim that the End is near. They exhaust us with predictions of blood and fire, the sun darkened and the moon turned to blood. Yet Acts claims all this was already fulfilled at the church's first Pentecost.

The forecasters say the rebuilding of Israel as a state is fulfilling the prophecy. But Acts says Israel is being rebuilt in the church with Jews and Gentiles.

Throughout Christian history, all predictions of dates and times have proved false. Why would our modern end-time specialists fare any better?

Klaassen helps Christians to enjoy God's kingdom now and hope for its fulfillment. That hope has nothing to do with literal wars, physical weapons and rivers of human blood. Instead, God is bringing in a peaceable kingdom, ruled by the suffering Lamb, as foreseen by Isaiah and fulfilled in Jesus Christ. This Lamb wins the battle by proclaiming the Word of God.

In this book, Klaassen addresses those who are sure they know when the End is coming, those who are confused and want biblical answers, and those who no longer are concerned about spiritual and heavenly realities.

He carefully shows from Scripture that John's vision of the New Jerusalem is not a physical cube but a spiritual vision of the glory God has prepared for his church and for his Creation. Let anyone who has an ear, listen!

The Bible is full of wonderful stories, all with something important to say, even to the very young. But it takes special skill with words and concepts to understand. The stories in My First Bible have been chosen especially and retold for young readers. And they have been selected also for their importance in the big story of God to the rescue, which the whole Bible tells. Beginning with the creation of our world by a God who loves and cares for people, they move through the story of the nation of Israel and its leaders to the life of Jesus and what follows. All the great names and events are here. Here are more than 60 Bible stories, especially chosen for young children, a foundation on which to build a growing knowledge of the Bible. These stories can be clearly understood; they are fun to read, to share and to enjoy- they are at their best when read aloud. My First Bible, with its rhythm and repetition, is ideal for reading aloud with young children, although older ones will enjoy reading it on their own. Colorful friendly illustrations reflect the mood and content of each story. They are all full of fun and detail will entertain even the youngest child. The characters are lively and expressive of the human emotions children recognize.

Prayer
In moments of crisis, need, or intense joy, we may pray by reflex or instinct. Fairfield helps us think about faith and life "when it hurts," when we hit bottom.

Nothing is more important than the reality in our daily lives. Fairfield shows how God's Grace shines on Faith to produce Right Living. Prayer is our communication link.

Those who began to follow Jesus were regularly surprised at his approach to life. He prayed as he lived, not so much asking favors of the Father, but to discover direction. When Jesus' disciples asked him about prayer, it wasn't about mechanics such as when or where or how. They wanted to know what prayer meant for him and his life.

The church has remembered Jesus' response in the Lord's Prayer. Over the centuries, it has opened the power of responsive living for millions of Christians. Fairfield includes a helpful study guide in an appendix.
