He feels jealous of his younger stepbrother, Tucker, who "doesn't belong." Yet he begins to care for Tucker as they share a campfire and some scary times. Two bluebirds huddle on the feeder as a young boy and his sister watch. Their mother says, "They came back too soon." In the morning, the boy finds the dead papa bluebird.
