| In 1874, four groups of Swiss Mennonites from Volhynia, Russia,
settled on the prairies of South Dakota and Kansas. This group did not
follow the main stream of people arriving from Russia. They were
Swiss Mennonites who went to Volhynia, once a part of Pland, but after
the divisions of Pland from 1772-1795, became a part of Russia. The
following families can be traced back to this broup, Krehbiel, Miller,
Schrag, Zerger, Graber, Stucky, Gering, Kaufman, and Flickinger.
