This collection of people, these saints and sinners, remind us that the image of God, resident in all his creations, is waiting, waiting to reflect the Creator to all who would but stop and look and listen for him, regardless of how jaded or lost the image-bearer may have become. We live in a world that has become neurotically obsessed with beautiful people, self-made; the kingdom of God, however, I suspect, is made up of loveable losers on the lookout to be remade by God. Jesus showed his affection to, and was best seen by, those who were unhinged enough to know that they would need God to do something beautiful for them; they could not do it themselves.
