What does it mean to be a Christian? How can I make sense of my life? What's really going on in the Bible? Why is the church so important to God? God's Story, Our Story invites you to join a conversation that covers these questions-and many others. It puts you in touch with two stories that Christians are constantly hearing and telling. First, there is the Bible's story of how God has been working in human history to restore us-and all of creation-to wholeness. The center of this story is Jesus Christ who lived, died, rose, and still lives-for us. The second story involved our own lives today. How do they connect with God's story? Where is God working today in your life and mine? What will we do with Jesus' invitation to follow him?

God's Story, Our Story is an introduction to Christian faith from an Anabaptist perspective. It can be used in a group of people considering baptism, or by people who just want to mull over faith questions on their own before-or even after-they say "yes" to God's story.

Teenagers face hard choices and situations every day. Dive is a place to turn for strength and encouragement as you confront them head on-with God. Woven through more than one hundred meditations are the guarantee of God's unconditional love and acceptance, the assurance that each young person is a worthwhile creation, and the challenge to courageously grow in faith.

All the topics covered in the book were suggested by youth themselves in the author's Sunday school classes, and at a national youth convention. Another aspect that makes this book unique is that each topical section includes specific suggestions for "living it out."

Stewardship
Far more than book on finances, Charting a Course will help youth establish a life plan that channels their time, talents, and resources into the Kingdom of God.

Gary Miller addresses practical issues such as credit, advertising pressure, and our infatuation with electronic gadget, offering down-to-earth, easy-to-follow guidance. And he does so within the framework of Jesus' call to seek firs the Kingdom of God. This is not simply a guide to manage money frugally or a how-to course in making money, but a continual call to look for ways to live as Jesus would, to carry out His intentions in our day.

Faith
In addition to a new cover, this edition includes three essays by people whose lives have been inspired by the book.

Donald B. Kraybill shows how the kingdom of God announced by Jesus appeared upside-down in first-century Palestine. Jesus wins by serving and triumphs by losing. Today, God's way still looks upside-down as it breaks into diverse cultures around the world. According to Kraybill, worldly authorities seek power and prestige, but Jesus' counter-cultural message is a clear call to turn the social ladder upside-down. Jesus demonstrates radical opposition to the dominant culture by making friends with social outcasts and rebelling against authorities. This message calls Christians from many cultures to actively participate in GodŐs upside-down kingdom.

Anabaptist
Elaine Reidel, shocked by her cousin's whispered secret, pried into her past--and discovered something that shook her life and shattered her future. In the aftermath of the sudden change that turned her life upside down, Elaine turned to the source of her turmoil for the peace that she longed for.

But Bibles in the vernacular language did not come without a price, and Elaine and her cousins found themselves facing risks that they never dreamed of, with a peace in the midst of it all that they could not explain. They learned to look past the tangled present into the unseen--into the eternity.

Never again would Elaine's life be calm and predictable, but the words that she learned to treasure still shone clear; that no matter what the circumstances or how high the price, we are His witnesses.

The inspiration for this story comes from the Martyr's Mirror where the story of John and Peter's martyrdom is recorded. The unnamed girl in that account the author called Elaine. Leonhard Keyser's story is also factual. The rest of the characters and the majority of the story plot are fictional.

One interesting thing about church history is how often young people were such strong, faithful witnesses. Their stories show us that we don't need to wait until we are thirty or so to throw our lives wholeheartedly into the cause of the Kingdom. The Lord calls us to follow Him-now! May this story draw our hearts to Him, and may He receive all the praise.
