Call of God

The Pentecostal flame speaks of the infilling Holy Spirit as we are called to follow Christ with all our hearts. Besides love, the color of red symbolizes hate, martyred saints and Pentecost. Christ tells us that those who follow Him may be hated by the world. Commitment to Christ may involve sacrifice and death. But the Holy Spirit of Pentecost will give us power and strength to endure. The descending dove represents the call of God:

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then said I, "Hear am I; send me." Isaiah 6:8

So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. II Timothy 1:8-9
