Activating Digest Mode

Digest mode causes several postings to be packaged together into a single larger message. With digest mode activated, fewer messages are received, but they are larger. Messages will be collected and sent after digest time has elapsed or the total size reaches digest size, which ever happens first. The suggested digest size is 64K, but users on services that have problems with large messages may need to set the digest size to 20K or less.
To activate digest mode, send these two lines Digest size: 64K
Digest time: 24H to server@MennoLink.org. The size, 64 K may be replaced with the value of your choice. Likewise, the time, 24 H may be replace with other values. These units may be used in place of H:
- M for Minutes
- H for Hours
- D for Days
Digest users need to take special care to set the Subject: and To: fields when replying to messages. See the posting page.
Deactivating Digest Mode
To disable digest mode, set the size to zero by sending Digest size: 0 to server@MennoLink.org.
